May or may not be wortwhile depending on how much it costs to convert to .hpt. Some older platforms it's free, but can be up to $200 (per file!) Or purchase user defined parameters, open up xdf in VCM editor and edit away.

But your second statement leads me to think you're not aware that tiny tuner will allow you to edit the tables mapped for your OSID, not just view them. Once you've made your changes in tiny tuner you can feed HPT the .bin. shardgauntlet
