WebMay 10, 2013 · We report a free-space quantum key distribution system designed for high-speed key transmission in urban areas. Clocking the system at gigahertz frequencies and efficiently filtering background enables higher secure key rates than those previously achieved by similar systems. WebTo conclude, we have demonstrated a quantum key distribution system that relies on readily available coherent states, continuous variable measurements and post selection to generate a shared key between Alice and Bob. The states are polarization encoded, ensuring fast modulation, and perfect mode overlap in Bob’s homodyne detector.
